For me, “Under the Surface” speaks about everything that we often hide — emotions, thoughts, quiet hopes the fear that live beneath what others see.
These works are about duality — how the same world can look different depending on where we stand and how we feel.
My two sculptures tell this story through umbrellas and paper boats — fragile, simple forms that carry deep meaning. One umbrella shelters stormy waters where a small paper boat struggles to survive. The other is turned upside down, filled with calm water where the same kind of boat rests peacefully.
Above both sculptures, a bird holds the sun gently in its beak — a symbol of hope, light, and the strength that guides us through both chaos and calm.
